Having just returned from a con in San Francisco, the image above isn’t as shocking to me as it may be to other bloggers and news sources. Plus, as someone who dons a Wonder Woman tiara to help overcome writer’s block from time to time, I’m somewhat more interested in where they got appropriately-sized shoes and accessories than what wacky hi-jinks may have inspired this scene. However, according to Entertainment Weekly, the upcoming episode in question—“The Wheaton Recurrence”—might just have something to do with Sheldon‘s archenemy Will Wheaton. Do the boys lose a bet? Probably. Does Raj (Kunal Nayyar) seem suddenly liberated in a way he never before thought possible? Definitely. Come out, Raj! If you always have to be drunk just to talk to women, it might be time for a little self evaluation! It reminds me of when I was in high school and told my girlfriend that I respected her too much to even kiss her, but isn’t this hand-holding nice?
Besides Raj, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) don’t look half bad as Wonder Woman and Supergirl. Sheldon’s strategically-placed star is a nice touch, too. But Howard (Simon Helberg) has to be the saddest little Batgirl I’ve ever seen. Not even Barbara Gordon is that glum all the time in the comics (athough she is pretty glum). I will withhold judgment on the whole “for a boy to look like a girl is degrading” thing in hopes they handle it in a clever sort of way. I’ll even give them extra points if Sheldon spins to transform into his costume!
“The Wheaton Recurrence” episode of The Big Bang Theory airs Monday, April 12 in the US at 9:30/8:30c.
