I’m assumning all geeky bloggers out there are beginning their articles about the Sideshow Collectibles 1/6-scale Thor Limited Edition Collectible Figure with lyrics from West Side Story. How could they not? One look at the awesomeness that is this figure, and I couldn’t help breaking out in song.
This beautiful blonde 12” figure is specially crafted in the dreamy likeness of Chris Hemsworth as the titular character in the Thor movie. The figure features a newly developed head sculpt and highly detailed costume, accessories and weapon. I’m especially excited about the three pairs of interchangeable hands, including fists, relaxed palms and a special set just for holding his mighty hammer.
I also like that his cape is detachable, so he can move easily from day to evening attire. They don’t specify whether the pants are removable, but I’m sure they wouldn’t dare tease us with a Chris Hemsworth figure that couldn’t be de-pantsed immediately upon arrival. The price tag, $169.99, is a bit steep, of course, and it could be potentially awkward if Chris were ever to drop by, see it on my shelf and ask, “What is Thor doing to Nightwing?” But I think it’s worth it.

• Detachable hair sculpture for wearing helmet
• Authentic metal hammer with patterned holder and faux-leather strap
• Movie-accurate helmet
• One pair of forearm armors lined with red cloth

I can’t help looking over this list and envying him for his muscular body, impressive number of articulation points and detachable hair sculpture. I’d like to imagine that the real Chris Hemsworth has all those features and more. At this point in the merchandising, marketing and shirtless promotion of this film, I’m ready to declare Thor the best movie ever made. I love it. And my Thor doll.
