Meet BENT-CON’s Costume Catwalk Judges

What would a convention be, especially one produced by and for the LGBTQ community, without a little cosplay? Or a LOT of cosplay, as the case may be. Fanboys of the Universe will be sponsoring the Costume Catwalk at BENT-CON (Saturday, December 3, 6:00PM), and we’re extremely proud to announce that Patrick Fillion (Class Comics), Zan Christensen (Northwest Press) and Johnny M (Fanboys of the Universe) will be joining us to judge the event.

Steering the show and acting as the less-gay version of Ryan Seacrest is none other than comics creator and comedian Brian Andersen (So Super Duper, Friend of Dorothy)! Brian will be interacting with contestants and audience members, and will host, emcee, entertain and keep things moving along. “I’m thrilled to be hosting BENT-CON’s first ever Costume Catwalk!” Brian said. “As a life-long geek and raging homosexual, being surrounded by a group of like-minded, costumed con-goers is a dream come true. Hopefully, I can bring a little extra pinch of humor and delight as host and fashion color commentator. Joan Rivers, watch your aged back! ‘Cause I’m gonna MC the shiz-nit out of this!”

Joining Brian is our impressive panel of judges, including fan favorite Patrick Fillion, the creative genius behind Class Comics. Patrick is making a rare con appearance at BENT-CON, and we’re thrilled to have him as one of our judges. “I’m really looking forward to the con,” Patrick said. “It’s going to be so great to geek out with other like-minded folks! Judging the costume contest is DEFINITELY going to be a highlight! I hope people really get into it and go nuts! That’s what these shows are for.”

Zan Christensen, Mark of Aeacus author and owner/publisher of Northwest Press, agrees with Patrick. “The cosplayers are the heart and soul of any convention. I have a feeling the BENT-CON crowd will not disappoint.”

Writer and musician Johnny M is best known and revered for his insightful (and critical) film analysis at FanboysoftheUniverse.com. So, what advice does Johnny have for Costume Catwalk participants? “This is a time for us to be as creative as possible and be who we want to be,” Johnny said. “I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with. Spandex is optional, of course.”

Our thanks to Brian, Patrick, Zan and Johnny M for their enthusiasm and participation. FBOTU’s Costume Catwalk at BENT-CON is going to be a blast!

Next week, Fanboys of the Universe will announce the prizes at stake in the Costume Catwalk. Of course, just taking part will be rewarding enough, but a little bling at the end of the runway will just add to the fun.
