Be a Prism Volunteer at NYCC!

New York Comic Con (October 11-14) is just around the corner, and both Prism Comics and Fanboys of the Universe will be there! As you know, Prism is the premier non-profit organization supporting LGBTQ-friendly comics, creators and readers. They’ll have a booth at the con again this year, where you can buy gay comics, meets creators and hang out with your fellow LGBTQ comics fans. You’ll definitely want to spend some time there. Hey, I have an idea! Why not volunteer?!

Prism needs a few volunteers to help out at the booth during the run of the show. Volunteer time slots are approximately 3-4 hours and include a wide range of fun sh*t to do, including booth set-up/strike, sales, customer service and outreach. I volunteer at the Prism booth whenever I can, but don’t let that scare you away. I’m not allowed to work the cash register or do any math, so I usually offer a lot of unsolicited advice and help people find books for themselves or family/friends. It’s fun!  You’ll meet lots of great people while helping an extremely worthy LGBTQ cause.

Prism can’t buy everyone tickets to the show, so you’ll need to already have a badge for whichever day(s) you volunteer. However, I think FBOTU might bring along some volunteer swag to help sweeten the deal a little.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please email Ted Abenheim at ted@prismcomics.org.

See you there!
