This morning, GLAAD announced the nominees for their 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards. The awards recognize positive or progressive portrayals of LGBTQ characters in the media. (Which doesn’t explain why or how Torchwood got a nomination.) Anyway, I’m always more interested in the comics nominations. I was very excited to see all my favorites recognized for their hard work and revolutionary representations of LGBTQ characters. If you read any of the comics nominated, you’re going to be impressed and proud of what the comics medium is capable of, in terms of social change and honest, interesting stories and characters. Congratulations to all the nominees! The awards will be presented in three separate ceremonies in New York (March 24), Los Angeles (April 21) and San Francisco (June 2).
