New Doctor, New Logo

image

The folks behind Doctor Who unveiled the logo that will be accompanying the Eleventh Doctor when he takes the reigns next year. Steven Moffat, who is taking over for Russell T. Davies as head writer/executive producer, seems positively giddy over the new look. “The eleventh logo for the Eleventh Doctor—those grand old words, Doctor Who, suddenly looking newer than ever!” Moffat exclaims. “And look at that, something really new—an insignia! DW in TARDIS form! Simple and beautiful, and most important of all, a completely irresistible doodle. I apologise to school notebooks everywhere, because in 2010 that’s what they’re going to be wearing.”

The logo will be used in a new title sequence and will also undoubtedly adorn all the merchandising to come. In case you haven’t heard, the current Doctor (David Tennant) will be regenerating into young Matt Smith for the next series. Read more about the new look and the new series at BBC’s official Doctor Who site.

Personally, I like it. But I’m a relatively new Who fan. Some of our Whostorians may disagree. Thoughts?
